What is provided:
At SAM THE BASSMAN GUIDE SERVICE, we provide our clients with high quality gear. We fish out of a Z21 RANGER bass boat powered by YAMAHA 250 Z-MAX, with Lowrance Electronics and Minn Kota trolling motor. Shimano reels on Powell rods are provided. I can also provide spinning and spincast reels if you are not comfortable with
bait casters. Just let me know when you are booking your trip or if you'd like, I can have you throwing a baitcaster before the end of the day. Onboard you will notice first aid kit, safety equipment, life vests, tackle, drinks, a light snack, and a digital camera. You can receive digital pictures of your catch by e-mail. Just leave me your e-mail address and I will send them to you.
Don't forget your Fishing License:
Click here to obtain one online. Instant licensing is available via the Internet(2% fee), via telephone by calling 1-888-848-6887($3.95 fee), or at the probate offices or many local stores that carry fishing tackle or bait.
As a reminder, all youth age 15 or younger are not required to have an Alabama State Fishing License.
We are checked on the water from time to time by both wardens and the marine police. Licenses are the responsibility of the customer. At this time, guides are not allowed to sell licenses, or allow people to fish under a single guide license.
Other Items:
Please bring a rain suit because you never know about the weather will be like. If you have any special needs, please advise me in advance of the scheduled trip. It is not a problem if you would like to use your own rods and tackle, but to conserve space, limit it to only tackle you will use on the trip. I actually encourage you to bring your own rods so that you are not uncomfortable with strange equipment. If you have any special beverages you prefer to drink, please bring those with you. Food for lunch can be obtained while we are on the water at local establishments.
Where to Meet:
A Meeting place will be specified with respect to which lake and predicted
weather. It is important to contact me two or three days prior to the trip in
order to finalize all plans, and discuss any weather or river related changes
for your trip.
Usually trips begin at safe light depending on weather. Exchanging cell phone numbers is a good idea in the event something happens during travel to our pre determined meeting place.
Normally I give directions to the launch site and we begin and end at that location. My phone numbers are office: 256-228-6464 and Mobile: 256-599-3428.
Severe Weather:
Lightning or severe winds and rain can sometimes be a problem. If possible,
we will wait out passing severe weather in the bait shop or other shelter. If
the severe weather is prolonged, other arrangements must be made, rescheduling,
etc.
